What We Do

Friends of Sanborn is working to ensure that the Sanborn Lake Park & Sports Complex continues to be a recreational safe haven for the people of Stillwater and the surrounding communities. We hope to inspire future generations to be passionately engaged in the exploration, preservation, and protection of the wonders of nature.

Coming down the winding gravel drive, visitors are shocked by a forest oasis only a 10-minute drive from downtown Stillwater. Nestled between the increasingly-busy airport and the residential area west of Boomer, Sanborn Lake is an oasis that boasts a diverse habitat of open prairie, dense forest, and free-flowing water.

We want to partner with the city of Stillwater and the Stillwater Municipal Airport to provide a welcoming, beautiful place for visitors and residents to explore and learn in the natural world. Sanborn Lake is owned and operated by the City of Stillwater Parks & Recreation Department.

“Friends of Sanborn is working to make the lake a place for Stillwater residents to enjoy for years to come.”
